History

Guse Christmas Trees, started after a neighboring Christmas tree farm went out of business, planted their first tree in 1965. That year, Howard Guse, founder of Guse Christmas Trees, planted 2 acres of Scotch Pine one tree at a time with a shovel. This family business sold their first tree in 1976.

Now, in 2005, Guse Christmas Trees has over 120 acres of trees in over 12 varieties including Scotch Pine, White Pine, Douglas Fir, Fraser Fir, Colorado Spruce. These trees are no longer planted one at a time either—each Spring, a crew of 4 head to the fields atop a planting machine that slips each tree into the ground.

We employ no full time employees, but instead rely on our trusted friends and neighbors to assist us during our busy seasons. During these times, we employ a crew up to 12 as well as 9 family members.

During our first years of business, we operated out of a 2-car garage. This quickly became too small. We now operate out of a 48x68 building that is now busting at the seams as well.

We offer live trees to be used as landscape throughout the year. If you are interested, please give us a call. The availability of these depends on the weather and varies from year to year.

Starting in November, we are open daily from 8AM to 4:30PM. Weekends offer many special treats. Santa visits us from 11AM to 3PM. We also have horse-drawn wagon rides, pony rides, Santa’s Christmas Train.

We offer many types of wreaths, garland, and grave pieces. We also have a gift shop full of crafts to decorate your home for Christmas.

Our snack shop is also open on the weekends. Stop by there to get a free cup of coffee or Grandma’s Famous Hot Cocoa. We have popcorn, hotdogs, nachos with cheese, fresh-baked cookies, and many other goodies.

We hope to see everyone this year!
